Bawley Point - Southern Shoalhaven
The Southern Shoalhaven is home to rich cultural and natural heritage with a coastline of breathtaking beaches and headlands backed to the west by the stunning Budawang Mountain range. Bawley Point is on the land of the Budawang people of the Yuin Nation. It is 30kms south of Ulladulla and 45kms north of Batemans Bay. To the south, the rugged coast of the Murramurang National Park extends into the Eurobodalla Shire.
The coast and hinterland between Batemans Bay and Jervis Bay is home to many communities severely impacted by the Black Summer fires of 2019-20, with Bawley Point located at the centre. This landscape is characterised by one road in, one road out communities along the coast, and villages and small communities nestled into the bushland areas along the escarpment. All of these communities were alert to, or directly impacted by, the Currowan fire and its changing directions for several months from November 2019 to February 2020. From February 2020 to now, repeated flood events have added to the already significant challenges of recovery and rebuilding. Since that time many in the community have been working hard to bring about recovery and renewal for the region. There has been a great deal of energy and work by many individuals, groups and agencies over many months. There is great need for this work and energy to continue well into the future. Willinga ParkWillinga Park is one of Australia’s leading equestrian centres, a multipurpose venue surrounded by unspoilt, natural landscapes. The entire centre is powered by the sun.
The Art of Hosting Training will be held in the architecturally designed main hall of Willinga Park’s Equine Education Centre, with big space, a balcony and mountain views. Willinga Park. Image: Carolyn Ardler

We are anticipating that most attendees live in the Southern Shoalhaven and will be travelling to and from Willinga Park each day from home. For those travelling from further away, Bawley Point offers a chance for a mini break before or after the training. There are many accommodation choices locally, ranging from great camping sites through to Interludes by Willinga Park for a little luxury, and lots in between.
Although it is after school holidays, you are advised to book early as Bawley Point is a popular holiday spot. There are some options here, or visit Airbnb, Stayz or Booking.com. |
